Civilization. Wow. It had been a long time since we had seen lettuce, ahem, I mean traffic. We pulled into Pape’ete after a short 18 hour sail from the isolation of the Tuamotus and it was like entering another world. A City! Traffic, Pollution, Carefour (thats french an amazing version of grocery shopping). Pape’ete was not the beautiful city I had imagined, but after over week of living there, the city in all its glory grew on us. It is a place we will remember fondly. From the roulettes (food trucks) with amazing Poisson Cru (raw fish), to the brewery, to the flower ladies and the fish market. oh and the Dancing at the Heiva festival (no cameras allowed)!
OK, so picture all of those amazing things in your mind and then imagine them in the video because we apologize, we failed at videoing pretty much all of this. We were so busy running errands, procuring boat parts, installing washing machines, cleaning, getting tattoos and provisioning, that we forgot to capture all of the little parts of Pape’ete that we so loved. Not to worry this is still an awesome video and we are stoked to show you the parts we did capture. So please enjoy this adventure as you join us for boat chores and tattoos in Pape’ete, Tahiti, French Polynesia!
