The construction in the Philippines amazes me. It is so simple, yet so durable. Their main materials are bamboo and fishing line. They use this to construct scaffolding, walls, and even their outrigger boats (bancas) are tied together with fishing line.
At first we were both questioning this method, but in reality this traditional construciton probably holds up better than the typical wood frame + drywall western-style approach. Not to mention, it probably costs a fraction.
