Sheridan 2014

It’s been a while since August 1st long weekend. Only one month I suppose. What brings us here? A few weeks of living on a boat with no real internet combined with too much Summer fun. Tardy but amazing memories from this weekend….

Sheridan Lake 2014

Sore muscles. Slightly sunburnt. Slightly hungover. That pretty much sums up this years shenanigans at Sheridan Lake. Not sure where the time went. Lots of laughter. Lots of water sports. Too much wine. Too much beer. A little Scotch. Too much family. Woops. Did I just say that? No, actually it was great to reconnect with […]

Idiot at the Helm

First shakedown cruise is behind us. The word “epic” comes to mind. Everything that could break, did break. From simple stuff like the Stand Up Paddle board pump, fresh water pump to the engine. For me, the worst part was a massively simple mechanical mistake. I had done an oil change a month or so ago. An […]

Hornby Island

There are likely too many dog pictures in this post. Guilty as charged. But the guy is just so photogenic. What follows is 2 weeks worth of pictures since I’ve been extremely lazy in posting updates. We’ve been going to my family’s cabin on Hornby Island for the past two weekends. It’s been fun times even though […]

Scalpels & Gallbladders

It’s been an interesting month. Lots of boring things happening behind the scenes related to getting our house ready to sell but things got really interesting last Saturday. Ashley had been having stomach pain for, ohhh possibly years after every meal. We always shrugged it off. Probably just indigestion. But things started getting bad Saturday […]

Seattle

Ashley and I popped down to Seattle for last weekend to observe some friends that are involved in a coaching program. The program itself was interesting and seeing the city was a bonus. Seattle has a charm to it and combines both beauty and business throughout the various unique buildings. Some pictures to tell the […]

Sheridan Lake & Family

It’s been grand time up at Sheridan Lake catching up with family, water skiing and just generally messing around. The paddle boards have been a fantastic addition in that one sees so much more of the lake than ever before. Every morning someone would be out paddling around, checking out the shoreline in perfectly flat […]

Goofin off

A whirlwind of a last couple of days. We left Victoria headed to Sheridan Lake near 100 mile house on Thursday morning. Of course we missed the ferry by three cars – The joys of living on an island. Ashley drove while I worked in the passenger seat for a few hours. The joys of […]

Kites & Bears

Kiteboarding – The most amazing sport invented to date. You can surf, jump or just ride. I can’t put into words how awesome this sport is. I get shivers up my spine just thinking about how great this last weekend was. By far the most fun I’ve had in years. The closest comparison I’ve thought […]

End of a Week

End of a week at Keats Island for us. It’s been good but busy. Lots of family and friends came to visit the Keats cabin. Now it’s time for a vacation from the vacation. It was Ashley’s birthday and the lucky girl got a paddle board from her lovely husband. These Inflatable Stand Up Paddle […]

Gunkholing Sunshine Coast

It always amazes me. It takes 3 days to get into the swing of things at the start of a vacation. The unwinding time is huge and necessary. We’ve had a beautiful few days up here on the Sunshine Coast in the high 20’s and low 30 celsius. Some pics from the last few days….     […]

Nothing

I sat down to write a blog post but then realized I have nothing to say. I feel like we’ve done nothing, as we should on a long weekend.

Wanted – Wind for Kiteboarding

Pretty good but slow weekend. Fed the Kiteboarding addiction and headed back to Nitinat for another couple days of riding. Lack of wind turned that into 1 hour of riding at the end of Sunday. The wind gods were not willing.   Good times all around tho. Brother in-law plus new girlfriend made for plenty […]

What a Weekend

Wow. I don’t know how to begin to explain last weekend except to say awesome and crazy. We had taken Monday off to create a 3 day weekend and although we had planned to leave Friday, thunderstorms and unsettled weather caused us to change our mind and we didnt get rolling until Sat Morning. Saturday […]

First Motorbike Trip of the Season

Busy week last week. Heck, it seems like every week is a busy week these days. And we don’t even have kids. To be honest, I’d say a good 80% of our time is taken up by work.  Not a bad thing if you love your job. Both Ashley and I have the attitude of […]

D Arcy Island

Had a fantastic Canada day last weekend. We took off on the boat for a day trip with our friends Bay & Adam to D’Arcy Island. I had been there many years ago on my family’s sailboat. I was still a child back then and vividly remember the stories we dreamt up. D’arcy island […]

Week Interrupted

Well that was a rather interesting, hard working, week. We arrived Saturday afternoon. Sunday was really our only day where we did something including the pictures in the last post. Keats is really a beutiful place. We love it here. What we did realize is that we really don’t like working 10 to 16 hours […]

Week Escape

We’re back on Keats Island after a slow start leaving Saturday noon. The trip from Victoria was once again flat calm. We’ve lucked out this year and haven’t encountered any nasty weather. We’ll probably have the nastiest of crossings as soon as we’re on a tight schedule and need to get home for an appointment. […]

Prepping to Go

I’m not sure what has gotten into us. We usually grocery shop daily because we live close to downtown and are lazy about planning dinners. We obviously have no idea how to plan for one week away. This is the state of our fridge in preparation of 10 days away at the family cabin.

Hornby Island Shenanigans

Hornby always turns out to be a great time. I don’t know if it’s the people, beaches or sulfur water. We have two cabins on our property; One is a very small cabin with a loft and small living space. The other, is a double-wide trailer that has some customization on the inside and a […]
