There are likely too many dog pictures in this post. Guilty as charged. But the guy is just so photogenic. What follows is 2 weeks worth of pictures since I’ve been extremely lazy in posting updates. We’ve been going to my family’s cabin on Hornby Island for the past two weekends. It’s been fun times even though the weather hasn’t been extraordinary.
This took me right back to my roots. During University, oh, 10+ years ago Ashley and I used to have a Firewood business. We’d deliver some of the finest firewood in Victoria. I’m talking reel fine. The driest most finely chopped firewood. Neatly stacked and supplemented with the occasional arbutus (the diamonds of firewood). It supplemented our Summertime income as Sailing Instructor. A few years later I was off to Logging Camp for a few weeks every Summer. Great pay but hard work. Still one of my best work experiences I’ve had. I learned that wielding a chainsaw for 14 hours a day is not my cup of tea. I graduated from University 🙂
Last weekend, I used those skills to pay my rent for the year.
This wasn’t our place luckily but one of the big lodges on Hornby Island. It was quite the scene the night it went up in a blaze as it was visible for far away. Only thing left standing is the chimney.
